Launched: 2024 - Present

Aflac and TOGETHXR set out to build something bigger than a one-off sponsorship, an experience that authentically connected Aflac with the culture and community of women’s basketball. Starting with a College Hoops Watch Party in early 2024, the partnership grew across major moments on the basketball calendar, including WNBA All-Star Weekend and the NCAA Women’s Final Four.

The opportunity was an ownable identity and experience that could travel with the game, evolve city to city, and bring together the athletes, fans, creators, and leaders shaping its future.

THE CONCEPT: QUEENS OF THE COURT

For the first Queens of the Court at NCAA Final Four Weekend, we created a custom identity that brought Aflac and TOGETHXR together without feeling corporate or sponsor-led.

The system embraced a bold, gritty, street-inspired aesthetic rooted in basketball culture. Expressive spray-paint typography, layered graphics, and raw textures could flex across environmental design, print, digital, social, and event collateral.

Most importantly, the identity was designed to travel. The core visual language stayed recognizable, while new illustrations, messaging, and location-specific details gave each city and tentpole its own personality.

That flexibility helped turn a single branded event into recurring experiential IP for Aflac and TOGETHXR.

THE EXPERIENCE

Queens of the Court was designed as a two-part experience: panel conversation followed by a celebration.

The panel brought together voices from across generations of women’s basketball to talk about the game, its growth, and what meaningful investment in its future looks like. Then the night shifted into an invite-only celebration with athletes, creators, entertainers, brand partners, and industry leaders.

Across its iterations, talent has included Dawn Staley, Aliyah Boston, Andraya Carter, Syd Colson, Kate Martin, Rickea Jackson, Diana Taurasi, Raven Johnson, and Kayla McBride, with guests including Jason Sudeikis, Aubrey Plaza, Paige Bueckers, and Megan Rapinoe.

FROM EVENT TO OWNABLE IP

What began as a custom branded experience became a recurring platform, with the programming, audience, and social footprint growing at each tentpole.

The growth was especially visible across WNBA All-Star Weekend:

2024
15 social posts · 127K engagements · 2M+ views

2025
49 social posts · 238K engagements · 5.4M views

Growing from 15 to 49 pieces of content shows how the event became a larger content platform, reaching millions of fans beyond the room.

2026
8.4M+ impressions · 1900+ RSVPs

ART DIRECTION

I lead the creative direction and design team behind Queens of the Court, from the original identity through three years of Aflac × TOGETHXR programming.

The challenge was making something that felt distinctly Aflac and TOGETHXR but had enough personality to stand on its own. The visual language had to scale from social graphics and invitations to signage, stage design, and the full event environment.

As the program grew, our focus shifted from designing an event to stewarding an identity.
